I’ve always wanted to be a mailman. (Did I just see you raise an eyebrow a bit?) The engineer-turned-photographer-turned-mom-turned small business owner wants to be a mailman? Yes! Because truth be told, don't you get even a little sense of anticipation when it's time to pick up your mail? You walk to your mailbox, open the creaky door and for a fraction of a second you hold your breath. Maybe, just maybe, there’s something special inside. But most days it’s the same, right? The standard junk mail, bills…and then there are the days when your favorite magazine arrives (yippee!) and then the days where...wow...is that what I think it is? It is. A hand-written note from someone who cares. You eagerly open it and as your heart is touched, a smile comes across your face.
I want to deliver to you that same kind of joy.
Case in point: this is a note my Grandma mailed to me just days after I started college many years ago. (Oh her glorious handwriting!)
I can't even begin to tell you what her note of thanks, encouragement, and praise meant to a nervous and lonely college freshman and what it means to this full-grown adult now that she's gone. "Cherish" doesn't even begin to describe it...
So what words of happiness can you share with someone today? Pick up a pen or grab your keyboard and send a note to someone who makes a difference in your life. Your words could very well be the only bright spot in their difficult day.
That's also the purpose of this blog: I want it to be something to make you smile, or say “oooh”, or maybe learn something new. And sometimes you may scratch your head and wonder what I was thinking. ;-) No matter what, I hope it brings you a little bit of joy.
